VIVIENNE TAM X Mandarin Oriental Hotel

The famed Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group invited Vivienne Tam to design their signature fan, a transparent Lucite and mirrored creation, for permanent display within the lobby of the newest Mandarin Oriental Hotel at the Time Warner Building in New York City. The fan was later reimagined in a bold, vibrant and distinctive China Chic Red color in 2021, capturing the hotel’s sense of place with a chic and sophisticated New York City feel.

Being a celebrity fan and a friend of MO, Vivienne was again invited to design the signature fan for Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Guangzhou in 2012. Her creation cleverly combines a Chinese opera mask with geometric patterns and floral motifs, the vibrant colours reflect Guangzhou’s characteristics: a fast-paced, modern and contemporary city with dynamic local culture.
